Working as a runner throughout his summers at University, George graduated in 2010 to take on full-time freelancing work in the TVC and film industry in New Zealand. Working in most every department as an assistant and often on location shoots, he gathered a thorough understanding of the inner workings of production that would serve him well as an AD.
In 2013, George was entrusted to travel the rushes for a TVC to London for data corruption repair, where he made contacts and ultimately found work in 2016. Preferring to work as a freelancer and enthusiastic to work as an assistant director, George has now worked on a number of productions across two continents.
Having returned to NZ in 2018 and with a much greater breadth of AD experience beneath him (including a sizeable Bollywood feature or two) it is time to apply these skills back home. George has done this through telefeatures, reality tv shows and TVC’s filmed during COVID times with some incredible crews working to create amazing work, no matter the measures.
Working into the new decade and a commitment to becoming an assistant director, more long-form work, features and television. George feels very fortunate to have had such a wealth of opportunity filming alongside extremely talented crews in NZ and abroad and looks forward to more great opportunities here in NZ in the future!
