Much to my mothers disappointment, I followed my fathers footsteps into the creative & exciting, albeit nepotistic area of work that is the NZ Film Industry!
Being the independent person that I was, at 19 years old I wanted to land my own job and not get one handed on a plate. So, I quit university (sorry mum!) and got myself a job on Peter Jackson’s LOTR which served as a invaluable 1.5year “apprenticeship" in both production and assistant directing.
Over the 22+ years since then I have worked in the many areas of production and AD-ing including features, shorts & TV series and most heavily in TVC’s. Over the years I intermittently paused from working to travel and to have kids. Each time the return to the industry has been something I have sincerely looked forward to.
I think we are really lucky to have such an amazing bunch of creative, practical and entertaining people to surround ourselves with in our work environment.
I really enjoy 1st AD-ing and love the challenges it provides.
I support the kaupapa of good morale to boost production instead of directionless shouting.
I believe that acknowledgement of all people and their strengths, combined with clear reciprocal communication leads to the successful problem solving we love.
